Shawn Matthias

One of the players on the Bulls has had quite the wild ride lately.

After leading the team in scoring this year, he was selected to play for team Canada and helped them win a Gold Medal, setting up the winning goal in OT

On Thursday, got a call from Jauques Martin of the Florida Panthers and he was summoned him to the Big Dance. He's a great kid and we all couldn't be happier for him. Here is an excert from him from the Panthers Website:
It’s been a wild turn of events for Shawn Matthias in the last few days. Just Wednesday, Matthias was relaxing in Belleville, Ontario as the leading scorer for the Belleville Bulls. Due to numerous injuries to Florida Panthers forwards, Thursday’s call from General Manager and Head Coach Jacques Martin was both a shock and the fulfillment of a dream. Matthias was an NHL player. He made his professional debut in New Jersey last night – everything happened so quick his parents were unable to catch a flight out of Ontario to make it to the game.

In only his second game, not only did he score his first NHL goal... he scored his second. Many of us are hoping his stint in the NHL is short so they'll send him back to the Bulls for the remainder of the season. If he keeps playing like this, we fear he may stick.
