Weekend Reflections

Had a busy but good weekend. Isaac finished up his skating lessons this week and for the 2nd consecutive time, he has received the famous "purple participation" ribbon. In other terms, he didn't exactly pass again but he had a great time and he really improved alot and is very close to passing. As soon as he masters the triple-toe lutz, double sow cow move, we'll be off to level 2.

Had some successful shopping for furniture for the basement. When I say success, not exactly buying the furniture but we are narrowing it down.

Today after church, we had some friends over from home group and went outside to skate on the pond and go sledding on our hill. I wasn't aware we had a hill but they got really going on our "slope"

Tonight we went to our neighbors first birthday party and had a good time.

Should be an interesting week this week, Isaac goes for his first visit to the dentist tomorrow. Should provide a lot of memories. Can't be any worse than last week when he gave his snowman a "penis" These Kids!?>!?!!...

The Future Location of Mackay Insurance

We placed an offer this week on a location on Dundas St. to possibly relocate our office in a couple of years. Exciting but scary at the same time. There is a house there now which will have to be demo'd...

Chris Sligh

So I'm into watching American Idol and I've picked my favorite. He's got a connection to a friend of mine and he's a worship leader at his church. He did give simon a good zinger last night... not your typical idol but I like him. Last night he sang "Typical" which is a song by Christian Band, Mutemath. The following is a link of the original audition. Cracks me up every time.

Great Morning

So I've added to my nominations for Father of The Year. Tanya works today so I was getting the kids ready and feeding them breakfast. We were behind and I went to get Eva out of her high chair and grabbed her by the arms and something gave way. She started to scream and her arm went limp. 2 1/2 hours later in the emerg, they thought at first she had a separated shoulder but it turned out to be her elbow coming away from the socket. The Doctor manouvered it around, made an adjustement and then she was fine. They did have to keep her in a little longer to monitor her heart as she got herself so worked up. Anyway, she's fine now... her dad is not back to normal yet but he'll get there.

Eva Getting In Her Crib

I guess we'll need to keep a better eye on eva. Tanya, Isaac and I were out on the couch and it was pretty quiet down the hallway. I went looking for Eva and she had climbed up and gotten in her crib. Wanting to see how she did it, I stood there and took a quick video. She is a monkey.

Sunday Snoozies

I've had a rough week sleep wise. Today during church, I unfortunately nodded off a few times. Pastor Peter came up to me after the service and said, I saw you at the back today bruce... Thinking he saw me sleeping, i fessed up and said, how tired I was and then he said, oh, i hadn't noticed that you were sleeping... DOH.

Reminds me of a few years ago when tanya and I were dating. We were planning the wedding, building the house, working like crazy and one sunday morning at her church, I was pretty much passed out. Godfrey Thorougood came up to me after the service and said "Bruce, I couldn't help but notice what a worshipful mood you were in" Thinking he was joking, i thought to myself, is he serious. He went on for a bit and then I couldn't take it anymore and i said, "Sorry, Godfrey, i was asleep" The look of disappointment that came over his face, I remember to this day and then he replied, "Well, I appreciate your honesty" and then he went his way. Man I'm a loser

Funny Face

Isaac made a funny face for the camera. I love Gramma's reaction... "I'm not impressed"

Dear Mr. Latour

I have a hard enough time sleeping at night with the kids waking up and all. But at 4:00am, we got a long distance phone call. The phone wasn't near our bed so as I frantically ran from our room to the kitchen, I envisioned someone must be dead and they're calling to let us know. It wasn't a long trip to the kitchen but I had enough time to bury and have the funeral of several people in our family. I then answered the phone and realized they had the wrong number. At first I was mad but then I was happy... they're all still alive. It's a february miracle YAY. But now as I sit here sleep deprived, I'm just plain mad.

So, to my good friend H. Latour of 1-613-932-7211, I think I may have to give him a good morning wake up call:)

My Valentine

Got an early wake up this morning from my valentine who got into bed with us and took great joy in poking me in the face with her finger and kicking me with her foot. The top picture is of her last Valentines Day. She has changed a lot in a year.

On Monday evening after chapel, i was downstairs doing some work on the computer and Tanya and the Kids were upstairs watching TV. Tanya and Isaac were engrossed in the Anna Nicole Smith Saga or something on TV, Eva, untied the gate and came downstairs to see me. She is a cagey one.

I'm feeling really old this week. At Chapel monday, we were in a restaurant and they were playing some elevator music and the guys started saying " Hey it's that song... It goes like ... it's just the way it is..." and they were trying to figure who it was and the title. I piped up, its' Bruce Hornsby and the Range and the title is actually, it's just the way it is. They looked at me like I had 3 heads and then one pipes up, Tupoq , it's tupoq that sings this song. Aparently some rap hip hop dude named tupoq re recorded It's just the way it is from Hornsby. Of course they've never even heard of Bruce Hornsby... I am old.

Doctrine in a pair of Jeans

My wife got me some jeans two christmas's ago. She bought them at American Eagle and they were designed to be a little rough. They had rips and holes in them and actually came with some sand paper so you can make them look rougher (My mother is cringing as she reads this). When I first got them, my girth would not allow me to fit in to these jeans, try as I might. After effort and a little weight loss, the jeans now fit. Recently the seam on the jeans came apart and so I took them in to the seamstress to have them fixed. I picked them up a week later and discovered that the seamstress had sewn a patch over the hole in the knees. It gave me a good chuckle.

I got thinking about those jeans as I wore them to chapel. Wierd I know but I did. Today was a discouraging day at work and a little bit of a down day at chapel. (If you've been getting 6 or 7 emails from me lately about chapel, i do apolgize, my email server is stuck in a loop and it's caused me massive amounts of headaches)

Anyway, Some of my key guys at chapel didn't come tonight and our numbers were down. One of our questions on the trivia tonight was "Can you get to heaven by being good - True or false" and most of the guys answered true. I felt like we had taken 5 steps back and questioned what we were accomplishing but then I thought of the pants and how they are similar to my situation.

1. Fitting - Their spiritual life may not fit in to the rest of their life now but one day, it will. Keep working away at it and one day, it will fit.

2. Fixing what I think is wrong - Like the seamstress who felt my beloved jeans needed a patch, she tried to fix what she felt was wrong. Too often, I find myself taking matters into my own hands and worrying about details and making things look good instead of letting God take control and do what his will is, not mine.

God please make yourself known and real in the hearts and minds of these players...

Mom, my jeans look a little rough still but the hole in the knee is now patched! I know you'll be happy!!!

Chapel Tonight

So My computer network is not working properly this morning, no email, no compu quote, I have a staff on holidays, 2 sick (but here) I have to look after the kids at 10 while Tanya goes to Chiropractor, have a marketing meeting with my Axa Rep today at 10 as well (that should be interesting), way behind... yes, there must be chapel tonight for the bulls. Whenever we have chapel, I can rest assured that we'll have the worst day possible and so far, it's living up to the billing.

Please pray that Satan won't have any more of a foothold in this day.

Sunday Afternoon Skate

My Neighbor Dave & I went out last night and flooded the back pond. He chisseled a hole and lowered a submursable pump and we flooded it. This afternoon, Isaac and I went out for a skate while Eva took a nap.

So Isaac and I were on the pond yesterday. Saturday I went out to clean it off but I didn't have much luck. It is really bumpy. I think I need to get me one of these! Paul, do you think we could make one of these?

Thanks to my cousin cindy for sending me these pictures. I didn't realize she was such an Oilers Fan!!
