Ken Dryden

So last night was a big walk down memory lane. Growing up as a kid, I wanted to be Ken Dryden. Out on the rink in front of our house, I was Ken Dryden... he was my hero. Seeing his number 29 raised to the rafters last night brought back all kinds of memories from the 70's when he helped Montreal win 6 stanley cups. To this day, i still recall my parents going to Montreal to see a game and they took Paul and Carol and left me at home with my babysitter Shirley Morrison... no i'm not bitter at all!

I taped the ceremony last night and as I was eating my breakfast this morning, I was re-watching it. When it got to the end, Isaac piped up, let's watch it again daddy. A 3 year old wanting to watch a jersey retirement ceremony again... he is my son!

Monday Monday

We've been having some discipline issues with Isaac lately and the weekend away didn't fare well on his behalf. We started a new strategy. He loves to help so Tanya made him a Chores List. She put a few things on his list and his attitude is completely changed... or so we thought. He was doing his work, getting dressed, praying for his food, helping to make his bed, and taking his dirty dishes over to the dish washer. He is very organized and likes to follow a routine... not sure what side of the family he gets that from. He was asking Tanya "What's next on the list mommy" Kid is only 3 1/2 and he's already got a "Honey Do" List. So it was working well and we were feeling quite good about things. not quite 12 hours after the Chores list, his vigor has waned and he's already asked for "cleaning up the toys" to come off the list.

Today was also a big day for Eva. She got her first (and second) time out. That girl has quite the temper on her. Isaac was playing with some toys up at the table and she wanted to climb up and play with them too. Tanya gave her a toy of her own to play with and she picked it up, threw it and hit Isaac in the head with it.... Please pray for us!!

Ottawa

Looking at the pictures makes the trip seem more enjoyable than it was going through it I think. No Sleep, bad weather, crying and whining kids makes for a relaxing time:) Good to get away but good to get home too. Kids got in the house and played non stop with their toys. Should sleep well tonight

Coats Please

Sue thought it would be cute to dress the boys up in leafs jersey's and hats. On the way in, the program guy made a comment to them about how he didn't like their hats. After the first period, it was really warm in there but Connor and Rhys refused to take their coats off for fear of further ridicule for wearing their leafs shirts. Aohden had no fear... no wait, Aidan... nope, Aodhan... i think that's right...

Hotels are just so fun

Eva woke up at 4 and has been up talking and just having a good ol time so we brought her in to bed with us so Isaac wouldn't wake up. Just started to fall back asleep around 5:45 when i hear our hotel door trying to open. I'm thinking to myself, Housekeeping, this is ridiculous. Then I realize, that is our son, trying to escape to the hallway. Luckily we put the latch across. So here I sit at 6:00 in the morning... Tanya and Eva asleep in the other room and Isaac and I in this room watching tv. He just asked me... "How did you sleep daddy" I said Terrible and he responded "I slept Very Good" Yeah, I just love hotels!

Hockey Night In Kanata

Came to Ottawa today to see the Sens play the Bruins. Trip down was brutal. Right around kingston, cars just started hitting each other. Looked like bumper cars. We were the last cars to go through before they closed part of the 401. Todd & Sue's van got bumped and narrowly missed a big accident.

Arrived safely at the game, was on our way in and I thought I left tickets back in the car so I ran like crazy back, went through the whole jeep only to realize the tickets were in my pocket all along. Nice. Game for first 2 periods was boring but Ottawa opened up in the third and won 3-1. Eva for the most part did great. The poor people ahead of us. Isaac and Eva both kept spilling popcorn on her (she still had it in her hair at the end of game) Isaac kicked her in the head by accident and my dear little nephew leaned over and called her a "dufous". Good times had by all. I bet she wished she spent more that $16 on her ticket. Isaac feel asleep with 10 minutes left...

Got to the hotel and they upgraded our room so we're on the executive floor. Isaac and Eva started at one end of the hallway and just ran at top speed to the other end. I couldn't catch them. giggling the whole way. Isaac was not anxious to stay at the hotel cause he thought he was going to have to sleep in the pool.

Well, they are asleep for now... we'll see how it goes tonight. If they sleep better here than at home, we'll be coming here more often...

Exhibit A

Ok, you're looking at this and saying, what type of picture are you posting here. Well, I just love this picture... It was to be a picture of Eva wearing her new Canadiens Shirt but just before the picture snapped, she mysteriously was "Pushed" out of the picture. Unfortunately for Mr. Isaac, the evidence of his pushing was caught in the photo...

The Pose Down

Isaac has taken to doing a pose down every time I go to take a picture... makes me laugh everytime which is why he probably continues to do it.

Skating

So Isaac enrolled once again in his skating lessons. After taking it in the fall, expectations were a little high. Unfortunately what can only be explained as a ginormous meltdown, the entire lesson was a write off. It kind of set the tone for the whole day... ah well, my mother reminded me i was rather "Clingy" at this age too and and to not worry about it... but I do. Next week will be another week.

Robert Munsch

So we took Isaac to see Robert Munsch Last night. I've never seen him before. Rather interesting fellow. Didn't really get dressed up for the ocassion, just recited his stories for about an hour and then it was over.

Prince Of Wales

Beyond the Cenitaph, you can see the Prince of Wales Hotel. Beautiful scenery in Niagara on the Lake and the site for several Walter Campbell Paintings
So as I was driving out of town yesterday, this scene seemed very familiar. I just bought a Walter Campbell Christmas scene last year and this is the angle of the photo. Cars are a little different and store on the right is no longer a stationary shop, it's a liquor store. Only in Ontario...
