UCB Golf

Went Golfing Yesterday at Timber Ridge in Brighton with Bobby Morris and my buddy Andrew Devries (Co-Chaplain with Bulls) and his dad. We had a good day. I think we finished 7 over unlike my other co-host Steve Heidt who says he finished 11 1/2 under... 1/2 you ask... he claims the ball went in the cup and back out again... thus the half.

Weekend Thoughts

Went to Toronto on Saturday with the Kids and visited Papa in the hospital. Not much fun for the kids and it was stressful for us trying to make sure they didn't pull things out of patients... etc.. Barry is doing better, had a really rough day saturday but we're told the third day after major surgery is always like that. There is a chance they will send him home today or tomorrow. Hard to believe. He is experiencing quite a bit of pain but he is improving.

Took the kids in to the eaton centre and they had a disney store there. Eva was going nuts wanting to hold on to all the stuffed animals.

Sunday we just crashed and didn't make it to church. Lack of sleep and the roller coaster ride of the week had taken it's toll.

Isaac was full of one liners all weekend. One of the more memorable ones, Friday night we went shopping for groceries and on the way home he informed us that he wanted to ride home in the trunk. After telling that everybody (people) need to sit in the front so they can put their seat belts on, his response was, i'm not a somebody, I'm a grocery. I'm a grape.

Tanya's Home

If you heard a sigh of relief at 10:30 last night... it was me. My wife is now home.

Out of Surgery

Tanya just called, surgery has finished and the surgeon has met with the family. They ended up doing a quad. They said it went well. Next 24hrs are critical in recovery. He is still under anesthetic but should be coming too shortly.

Barry

I drove my wife & mother-in-law to Toronto Last night, got them set up in a hotel near the hospital and then left to come home on the train. Got in after midnight and spent the night at my folks where the kids were. As I was leaving the hospital last night, the surgeon and the doctors were going in to meet with Barry. They said it is a miracle he's still alive because his blockages are 100% in most cases. That's why they are pushingto get the surgery done quicker. They scheduled him for 7:00am this morning. Tanya said they wheeled him in at 8:00 so now we sit and wait and pray. We may not hear anything for the next 5 hours.

When I was there last night, Tanya and I and Barry & Jo-Ann sat to watch a video about the procedure and what to expect. One of Barry's questions was, will they have to stop my heart... Yes we will and then we will restart it. It kind of was a numbing feeling hearing that.

Thanks for your prayers

Barry Update

They've moved the surgery up to wednesday. We are heading up to the hospital tonight and tanya may stay over. Will post more later

Firing

I had to let one of my employees go today. This is one part of the job I don't like doing but it became very necessary.

Playing at the Park

Took the kids to the pirate ship last night. Isaac loves it there. Eva has decided (thursday) that it's much quicker to walk than to crawl. She has not looked back and is walking everywhere now.

Hockey

So we finished up the Bulls Fantasy Camp. What a week. Fun playing every day but my body took a beating! We ended up winning the Gold vs Black Competition during the week. We were up 2-0 in the series and black got back into it and tied it 2-2. Friday, we were up 6-4 with 5 minutes left and we let them get back into it scoring the tying goal with 13 seconds left. Anyway, we ended up winning in OT and making it a dramatic win.

Other than that, we went to St. Mikes in TO to visit Barry and had a slow day at home yesterday

Update

We were up to visit Barry on the weekend. He is in St. Mikes in Toronto. He was doing ok saturday and last night tho had a rough night. Starting getting more chest pains and his blood pressure has elevated. As it stands now, he is expected to have Triple or Quadruple Bypass surgery this Thursday or Friday. They expect him to be in hospital for at least a week after the surgery. Please keep the family in your prayers

Barry Update

We received an update on Barry today and it was not good. He is in St. Mikes - Toronto and they did an angeogram to see if they could do an angeoplast. They can not. He has 5 blockages and will require major surgery. They are unsure as to when they can do this but our hope is that first of the week. Please keep him and the family in your prayers.

Papa Jones

Last night we told Isaac that Papa Jones was in the hospital and his response was, "He needs to get tubes in his ears and he will feel better" Tanya then said, he had a boo-boo on his heart to which he replied "What did he fall on"...

Today he asked, "If Papa is at the hospital, where is his car" Well, it's at home.... "How is papa going to get home from the hospital?" Uncle Todd or Uncle Trevor will drive him home...
to which he replied... "Probably uncle Trevor"

Update on Barry

My Father In law spent the night in ICU last night in Bowmanville. He had a heart attack 10 years ago and has had some heart troubles. They have been monitoring him and this morning, he's on his way by Ambulance to St. Mikes in Toronto for an Angeogram and possible surgery if blockages are discovered.

Day Four

Well, we lost the gold vs black game 5-3 last night so we're tied going in to the final tonight. Should be fun. I've never played 5 days in a row ever before and my body is sure feeling it. Here is a picture of Jake and I and some picture from practice and the game. I think the idea is we are supposed to get progressively better but my body is not responding that way!

Father In Law

My Father In Law has been using his nitro spray quite a bit lately for his heart and he went to the doctors today to have him check it out and they've admitted him to the hospital for some tests and to observe him. Please keep him in your prayers.

Day Three and More Pain

So I left last night limping and with an ice pack on one ankle and a band aid on the other only to go home and get Zero Sympathy from my wife. The phrase "you signed up for this" just doesn't help! We lost last night 8-4 leaving the black vs gold series with us up 2-1. Special Thanks to Doug MacIvor (former Bull) who sent me an email yesterday offering to come back and fight me to make the experience that much more real!

Hockey Camp

So I've finished day 2 of the Bulls Fantasy Hockey Camp. It's been a riot. Hard work but a riot. We have our own stalls in the bulls dressing room. Bulls coaching staff run us through some pre-grame warm ups, team meetings, we have drills and practices for about an hour and then we have a scrimmage for an hour. They really make you feel like you're playing pro. Every night after the scrimmage, Coach Burnett hands out hard hat to a player that stood out that night... monday I got it cause i scored an "Ovechkin-like" goal. Truth be know, I tripped, fell on my butt and then got the puck in my stick, swung it around and in the net. It was pretty funny. They video tape the games and then show us the highlights the next night in the dressing room. They've been joking that I need to change name of the business Ovechkin Insurane.
